Mission Statement
Consumers Organized for Reliable Electricity (CORE) supports a fair, competitive, responsible energy market that ensures reliability in the electric industry. We support competition, investment and economic development goals as the Illinois electric industry transitions to a more competitive marketplace.
We believe that:
- The electric industry and a reliable infrastructure are cornerstones of a strong Illinois economy.
- Illinois should continue to move toward open energy markets because competition leads to the lowest possible prices, enhanced service and innovation.
- It is critical that Illinois' legislative and policy leaders send a strong message that they are willing to follow through on their promises and not change the rules in the middle of a major restructuring effort.
- Critical decisions about the future of electricity pricing and delivery should be left to an objective and informed Illinois Commerce Commission that is insulated from political pressures.
- The pro-reliability and pro-competition legislation passed by the General Assembly nearly 10 years ago and now guiding the ICC shouldn't be delayed or changed. The ongoing restructuring process should continue unimpeded.
